Community is known for suicides

Your town community center has suicide prevention meetings—to no effect. Your sister killed herself mysteriously. Your girlfriend sees you kissing your boyfriend. She goes on a drinking bender. She is raped by a creepy straight dude. She hangs herself. Your mom is forced out of depression to save your life. To get you away from here before your death, which has long been expected, especially now that the whole community knows you're gay.

I remember. This disco song played in a Raleigh NC gay bar. I flirted with a blond hottie. He asked why I wasn't competing in the wet T-shirt contest. My body was off the charts.
