Mambo Italiano - the closet is safe

"Mambo Italiano" (2003) on Tubi. You tell the wrong person that you're gay. Word gets out. People assume the roommate is your gay lover. He is but can't handle being out. He chooses the closet over you. He marries a woman & has a baby. Eventually your family & community accept you & your new gay boyfriend. But why couldn't he be Italian?

You drove slowly through the old town already dark evening in the fall of 1988. You flashed your lights. I followed to a secluded spot.  I must have looked like a giant standing next to my little Datsun car so you could see me. You emerged from your muscle car. Petite dark & handsome. My type.
