Beware the Family Reunion

"Take Me To The River" (2016) on Tubi. TV-MA for subject matter. Disturbing cautionary tale at the family reunion. You - a 17-year-old rebellious GAY teenager - go off to play with your 9-year-old female first cousin. She has an accident. You are accused of sexual assault. 

Your life is immediately in danger. To calm the emerging lynch mob, your mom shouts, "We're family! We're family!" Instead of taking you away for safety, your parents stay 2 more nights on the farm. Suspense thriller! The viewer expects you to be murdered at any moment throughout the movie. You hide in the old barn when vehicles drive by.

Alone you must confront your creepy uncle, who threatens you with a loaded pistol. Turns out, he's likely molesting his own daughter. Just as he did to your mom when they were young siblings.

Finally on the drive home, you realize your parents don't love you. They don't protect you. They protect secrets.
