The mountain erupted in anger
On this day 44 years ago
Mt St Helens blew its top
I visited 23 years ago 
Searching for love. My Empty Heart 

I flew across the country 
Then I drove foolishly 
Across the highest deserts 
Cold rivers & lonely valley 
Starving for some intimacy 

It was a poor decision 
We broke up on the first day
Alone again in a foreign land
Wet in a rainforest & a tent
3 more years until Heaven sent 

You to salvage my heart 
No more falling apart 
Making sacrifice for meaning 
You found me in a parking lot 
Looking for lost love. My Empty Heart 

You redeemed me. Made me better
Someone you can love forever 
You forgave my ugly past
Eyes wide open. You kissed my lips
The search is over for My Empty Heart.
