On the 4th of July
We ate burgers & fries
In a crowded public park
You were by my side
We sat on the grass
My toe caressed your foot
I felt so good to be seen with you
Couldn't keep my hands off of you

We looked like a gay couple

We found a shady swimming hole
To cool off our sweaty bodies

On Independence Day
We're not ashamed of being gay

Our gay love is a secret Paradoxically There are no secrets between us Not supposed to be The more fiercely hidden The more outrageous are The chances we take We've taken some big ones As if we want to get caught We do.
