When You're Near Me


When you're near me
I can't speak clearly
Of course when you touch me
I lose my train of thought
My knees grow weak
I walk in circles literally
I can't speak at all
At that point
When you're near me
I smile
Come closer I giggle
Closer still
I laugh with delight

How a new word appears in use
Only recently learned
How a favor given long ago
Is happily returned
Now the clouds have parted
I can't speak clearly
When you're near me
But you can hear 
The laughter of delight
Echoes from my heart

Our gay love is a secret Paradoxically There are no secrets between us Not supposed to be The more fiercely hidden The more outrageous are The chances we take We've taken some big ones As if we want to get caught We do. Don't we?
