A poor plot needs great actors. A great story can be told by anyone.

Your father dies. Your step-mother is a bitch. She tries to kill her nephew who visits, takes notice in you & spurns her advances. She goes to jail; he to the hospital. You get a warehouse job. 

The step-cousin recovers. He confesses his interest in you on your lunch break. You quit. Love is more precious than any job.

Oh. Your step-mom also killed your dad, who you miss a lot.
