This film is special & heartwarming for two reasons.

(1) How the gay couple interact with each other. 

(2) How the father sincerely accepts his son as the son tries to come out. To paraphrase the father...

...I know you're gay, son. I'm your father. I've always known. I want you to be happy in love. That makes me happy. I know your "friend" is more than a friend...

The father calls to make sure his son has arrived safely to his new life. "Give your boyfriend a hug from me." The son is so happy completely. Rare to see such a scenario.
